Özet:

This study has been planned to assess the nurses' levet of knowledge related to postoperative care and prevention of possible complications of the patients undergone to prostatectomy. This study covered 32 Nurses who work in urological departments of three hospitals in Istanbul. Nurses were subjected to a quastionaire form including detailed items about the matter and the correct answers were taken into account. The results of the study have shown that the nurses knowlege covering the care of the patients with prostatectomy and the prevention of complications was not sufficient. It was suggested that after graduation inservice education programs are very necessary in order to give patients a competent nursing care. The refreshing pragrammes must be repeated in conveniant mtervals.
