Abstract:

Objective: First aid includes applications until professional or medical help arrives. Industrial sites consist of business lines with all hazard classes and it is vital for employees to know first aid. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out in order to measure the first aid knowledge level of the workers in the industrial site in the city center of Artvin. 122 people working in the industrial site participated in the research. In the data collection phase of the study, "Personal Information Form" and "A question form consisting of First Aid training subjects" were used. The analysis of the data was done with number, percentage, mean and standard deviation values. Results: It was determined that only 24.6% of the participants had received first aid training before, and 64.8% wanted to receive first aid training. 40.2% of the participants had an accident while working. It was found that 77.0% of the accident victims did not receive first aid intervention. It has been revealed that 92.6% of the employees have never given first aid to someone who has had an accident. The mean score of the sample's first aid level test was found to be 34.5±1.197 points. Conclusion: At the end of the study, it was determined that the first aid knowledge level of the employees was low and their knowledge about first aid needed to be improved.
