Abstract:

This study, which studies the relationship between mentoring functions and teacher self-sufficiency perceptions, was conducted in the 2014-2015 educational year at the Faculty of Education of the University of Fırat. According to the results of the study, teachers candidates believe that practical teachers have partially fulfilled the mentoring functions. But teachers consider themselves sufficient in their self-sufficiency. Furthermore, there is no meaningful relationship between mentoring functions and the teacher’s self-sufficiency perception. This result was also interpreted in the form of trouble in the nature of the mentoring service provided to the teachers candidates in the practice schools and the quality of the mentoring service provided in the practice schools should be enhanced and the quality of the mentoring teachers should be selected among the teachers willing and skilled to mentor and the mentoring teachers should be taught.
