This study focuses on two different ideas between contemporary approaches in the theory of democracy. Both Laclau and Mouffe’s radical democracy project and Hardt and Negri’s global democracy idea have emerged as a solution to the crisis that liberal democracy faces today. Both democracy projects also discuss the concepts of essence, class, identity, hegemony, minority, and revolution. In this context, this study claims that the global democracy idea, which Hardt and Negri explained with the concepts of pluralism and empire, is a radical criticism of democracy.
