Abstract:

This descriptive research was carried out to determine contraceptive behaviour of women and related factors in postpartum period. The sample was consisted of 101 women attending Alibaba Health Center in Sivas and were around six month after birth. Data were obtained by a question form that was developed by researcher. Question form was applied to women using face to face technics. Frequency poission and x2 test was used to evaluate the data. According the data, it was determined that 50.5 % of women was using a contraceptive method and condom, withdrawal and IUD (Intra Uterin Device) were first of all using methods. It was found that women were not using family planning method because of breastfeeding (41.7 %) and lactational amenorrhoea (21.6 % ). As a result, It was thought that half of women in postpartum period had used family planning method, but 64.7% of used methods was effective methods.
