Various Turkish tribes established dominance over a wide area including present-day Afghanistan as Afghanistan was on the migration route of the Turkish tribes. Turkish tribes contained also other ethnic communities of the region establishing yabgus in Taharistan and Bactria in B.C. Turkish tribes maintained their domination until 1857, descending into North India, and India. However, the Islamization of the region and complete placement of Turkish tribes completely coincided with Ghaznevids. Sultan Mahmoud contributed to the Islamization and Turkization launching 17 military expeditions to India. At the same time, this led other Turkish tribes to establish strong states in these regions later. Recognition of Afghanistan's history, culture and living ethnic groups is important in terms of Turkish history. For Turkish tribes who established strong states in Afghanistan and later whose domination continued in India, the transit route was Afghanistan. Therefore, the recognition and knowing of ethnic groups is thought to be important in this respect. Afghanistan is inhabited by various ethnic groups. Hazaras is one of them.
