Factors Affecting the Substance Abuse and its Effects on Male’s Livelihood in Punjab Pakistan

Abstract:

Substance abuse is dependence on drugs. Today it’s become a burning issue among worldwide. And the high ratio among male implicated in using drug is also a big issue. Its impacts are very dismissive on the social, psychological, economical, and physiological development of abusers and can cause serious, long-term aftereffects, that include troubles with mental health, relationships, and employment. This study is conducted to explore the effects of substance abuse on male’s livelihood. This study was carried out in two districts of Punjab. A sample of 400 respondents was drawn to collect responses from the respondents to achieve the study objectives using interview schedule. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS. It was found that the respondent’s marital status, physical and mental health, and their negative behavior were significantly influencing their livelihood. so the livelihood of most of the respondents was too much affected due to their poor psychological, and physical health and socio-economic problems they were facing with drug abusing.
