Waste management is a system that, taking into account environmental conditions and economic development, examines the process from the formation of waste to the final disposal within a particular area, determining needs. In this study, the waste management system in the Bodrum Municipality related to the Muğla province has been studied due to the example of the tourist coastal areas. The issues affecting urban waste management and the waste management data obtained at the end of the field studies have been evaluated depending on domestic and external tourism in coastal areas. The study concluded that, depending on the tourism activities in the region, there was a difference of 728% between the summer and winter population. The waste collection and transportation activity in Bodrum is carried out by the private sector in two regions, in one region by the municipality. In the Bodrum district, parallel to the increase in tourist population in the summer season, household waste is 180 tons/day 490 tons/day, and park- garden waste is 10 tons/day 450 tons/day. As in many of our tourist areas, there is also the conclusion that the absence of a regular storage facility in Bodrum is the most important problem of waste management.
