Abstract:

In poet tezkires, the terms “eş‘âr” and “güftâr, are sometimes used as consider the poet's style and used sometimes as evaluation of poems. For this reason, especially in the presentation of poem examples, is attracted attention stereotyped expressions, be included of this terms, with their frequency and difference. Hence, it is possible to make inferences as to the use of these terms in tezkires as well as their dictionary meanings based upon their context and functional properties. Therefore, in this study, is determined the meanings of the terms “eş‘âr” and “güftâr” in the 16th century tezkires which we can be listed as a part of the tezkire Sehî, Latîfî, Hasan Çelebi, Beyânî, Âşık Çelebi, Ahdî and Künhü’l-ahbâr; with reference to dictionaries and tezkire texts in different languages. Within this scope, is evaluated their show what kind of variations of the words mentioned in poetry and poetry descriptions. During these evaluations, the terms “beyt, ebyât, poetry, matla‘, nazm” which are confront our in the presentation of poems have also been in common compared in terms of meaning and function, too. For this purpose, it is worked to reveal the sound and meaning connection of the words “eş ‘âr”” and “güftâr” with a contextual criticism.
