The aim of this study is to describe the characteristics of ethnographic documentary film and the cultural transfer function, which is one of its most important functions. This study, the identification of ethnographic documentary film with its feature that conveys culture is the goal of embodying this data with examples and offering an original study sample and contributing to a limited number of scientific productions. The study, which has a high original value, is a very high value culture, ethnography, ethnology, anthropology. Documentary film is driven by the realities that exist in society and has the ability to be a bridge between yesterday and today. Oral or written culture; the culture that is experienced or experiencing is one of the interests of the documentary film. Ethnographic documentary film has taken place in the history of documentary film as a genre that conveys culture. As an evaluation study, this study has a structure that allows to analyze content for subsequent studies in the field in the literature of the field within the framework of Karl Heider’s ‘Ethnographic Film’ criterias. Ethnographic documentary films reveal a structure that conveys the culture they address with ethnographic understanding.
