Abstract:

The emotions, feelings and intuitions that make life meaningful such as goodness and bad, happiness and unhapiness that are constantly experienced and affect our lives; add meaning to our existence with all their existence or absence. To this end, Emotion-Oriented Therapy is a process of therapy aimed at understanding the role of emotion and the meaning of life through psychotherapeutic changes. Through emotion-oriented therapy, clients are helped to better identify, experience, accept, regulate, examine, translate, use, and flexibly control emotions. In their communicative processes, awareness is created in order for the clients to better orient their emotions and to better define their needs and concerns at the center of these said emotions. For this purpose, the basic assumption of therapy is to realize the existence and universality of the basic emotions of innate fear, shame, guilt, anger, sadness, disgust, enthusiasm, joy. Emotion-focused therapy has begun its journey with interpersonal-social problems of distressed individuals, but since; has expanded its range of application with different populations and control groups such as depression, trauma and stress victims, couple relationships, recent eating disorders, borderline personality disorder and anxiety disorders, and likewise, has proved effective in these groups too. Cinema therapy (film therapy), which is being used as a supportive method, is a functional method for creating emotional intervention in psychoreterapy, providing insight in the individual, identification, catharsis and integration processes. Increasing use in recent years the aim in cinematerapy can be explanied as providing the basis for the processing, analysis and positive modeling of emotions such as horror, excitement, anger, joy, enthusiasm and love created by movies on human beings, and providing solutions to existing resistances by creating models through metaphors. Cinemotherapy, which can be used as functional support therapy in the activation and thus the regulation of emotions; is used used as an adjunct method in the recovery of factors such as schizophrenia, depression, self- esteem, spousal relationships, courage, death and mourning, special education, parental stress, responsibility, test anxiety, alcohol dependence, traumatic experiences, anger, irritability and fear. Cinematherapy should be used as a professional support method that requires expert control in the treatment of many mental and emotional disorders. The important critical point has to be selecting the correct film for the functional purpose. The cinematherapy method which has healing effects can be carried out individually and in groups for self-opening and change. The method of giving film-watching homework to the patient-client during support processes is also one of the many varieties of applications.
