The aim of this study was to verify the relationship between motor skills with ball and its interference in the academic performance of children who play futsal in the city of Ouro Preto-MG. The sample consists of 56 students of the initial and final years of elementary school, aged between 09-13 years old and all males who practice futsal twice a week, after regular school time. It was used the coordination test with ball (TECOBOL) to evaluate the motor performance and was estimated the notes to measure school performance. Students who attended the final years had a higher average academic performance of those who were attending the early years, except in driving skill. It can be concluded that there is difference in school performance between different educational cycles, but this difference can not be related only to practice extracurricular activities.
