Abstract:

The purpose: Eighteen years of age and six pregnancies are called pregnancy. In our country, the rate of pregnancy is between 8-12%. According to the World Health Organization, pregnancies in the adolescent period, defined as the age range of 10 to 19 years, have a negative impact on the physical, mental and psychological health of the mother and baby. In this study we aimed at examining the characteristics of pregnancies aged 18 who apply to the Trabzon Children’s Monitoring Center. Method: In 2015-2020, we retrospective examined pregnant girls who apply to the Medical Faculty of the Black Sea Technical University, the Children's Protection and Monitoring Center. Results: 18 adolescents under the age of 18 were pregnant between 2015 and 2020. Three of the six cases requested for internal body examination have been observed. Three pregnancies were detected with criminal abortion in the first trimester, 3 occurrences were terminated with therapeutic curetage in the first trimester, 2 occurrences were pre-born, and 10 occurrences were born in the first trimester. Nine of the victims were found as the victim's lover, three of them cousins and two of them, and four of them were an informal wife. Result: In a study limited to the district of our country on pregnancies, 48.6 percent of cases were to have no formal marriage, while in our study, 22 percent of pregnancies were found to have no formal marriage. A study conducted in Minnesota found that 40-70% of pregnancies had a history of sexual abuse. In our study, all adolescent pregnancies were applied for sexual abuse and this is due to the fact that the work was done at the child protection center. Adult pregnancy affects the physical, mental and psychosocial development of the mother. In addition to medical and legal support, psychosocial support is also needed.
