Avrasyacılık, Rus Çarlığı’nın ve Sovyetlerin dağılma döneminde Rusya merkezli jeopolotiğin üstünlüğünü koruma ve güçlendirme stratejisi olduğu halde günümüz şartlarında ilave anlamlar kazanmıştır. Soğuk Savaş sonrası uluslararası sistemin ABD önderliğinde “tek dünyacılığa” evrilmesi, dağılan Sovyetler Birliği sonrasında 1990'lar boyunca Rusya Federasyonu’nun da parçalanma sinyallerini vermesi, Rus aydınını yeni arayışlara itmiştir. Moskova merkezli bir Rus devletinin süper güç olmasının tehlikeli bir hayalcilikten ibaret olduğunu savunup tek çarenin ABD önderliğinde Batı'nın talimatlarını uygulamak olduğunu savunan liberaller yanında eski toprakları geri almak ve korumak için daha fazla güç ve şiddet kullanmanın gerekliliğini söyleyen Rus milliyetçileri veya komünistleri de bulunmaktaydı. Avrasyacılar ise çözüm yolu olarak şunu önermişlerdir:
While Eurasianism was a strategy to preserve and strengthen the superiority of the Russian-based geopolitics in the period of the dissolution of the Russian Tsar and the Soviet Union, it has gained additional meanings in today’s conditions. The evolution of the international system after the Cold War under the U.S. leadership to "one-world" and the dissolution of the Soviet Union during the 1990s, the Russian Federation also gave the signs of dissolution, pushed the Russian light into new searches. There were also Russian nationalists or communists who claimed that a superpower of a Moscow-based Russian state was a dangerous imagination and that the only way to follow the instructions of the West under the U.S. leadership was the need to use more power and violence to recover and protect the old territory. The Euroscientists suggested the following solution:
