Abstract:

The purpose of this study was perform to case study with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is applied in the sessions of dental phobia. The case was a woman (S) who 38 years old. In this study, the effects of dental phobia on the daily life of case S. were analyzed. The efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy and techniques in dental phobia treatment was investigated. The study included eight sessions that once a week for the case. Using cognitive restructuring techniques, irrational thoughts and avoidance behaviors were studied. The study included a demographic information form and three questionnaires which are Corah's Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS), Beck Anxiety Scale (BAI) and STAI Form TX I and II. According to Corah's Dental Anxiety Scale’s result that, the case had a high degree of dental phobia. Also, the case had a high level of anxiety the results of BAI and STAI I and II.  As a result, it was found that cognitive behavioral therapy had positive results in the treatment of dental phobia and anxiety and anxiety decreased in the test repetition after treatment.
