Demography and local development: a working algorithm

Abstract:

Abstract A historical analysis of the treatment in Cuba and in Latin America of the subject of the use of demographic inputs for local development is carried out. From this analysis the importance of the use of sociodemographic data for the construction of local development strategies as well as the main obstacles that are presented in the development of this task is exposed. It provides a comprehensive explanation of the role of training in this process based on the characteristics of learning Demography and as a fundamental basis for the preparation of specialists in the knowledge of demographic issues and in the management of different demographic analysis tools for the Development of local development strategies. In addition, an algorithm of work is proposed through the Cuban experience that exposes the different steps necessary in order to include the population component in the said development strategies. Finally details of the management of sociodemographic data are specified.
