Purpose: The aim of the study was to examine OT approaches in cancer, one of today’s problems and Occupational practitioners’ role. Materials and Method: Cancer may cause limitations in people’s ability to participate in the areas of performance such as self-care, work, leisure and social activities. This situation affects a person’s psychological and emotional status negatively. The main goal of OT practice in cancer is to provide the physical and psychological wellbeing of people by helping them participate in activities of daily living. Results: After they get diagnosed with cancer, some behavioral changes may occur in people such as social withdrawal, waiting for death, low motivation, quitting work, self-stigmatization etc. OT aims to minimize this problem with cognitive behavioral therapy, stress management and coping strategies. As a result of radiotherapy and chemotherapy side effects such as pain, nausea, hair-loss, diarrhea, fatigue, sexual problems can be seen. OT targets to help people acquire coping skills against these side effects. conclusion: Providing OT services in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and patient’s home environment, care giver training, environmental modifications, adaptive equipment training, arrangement of recreation, social participation and return to work, elevates the patient’s safety and increases the level of independence
