Kadınlık ve erkeklik olgusu biyolojik varlıklarımızdan ziyade toplumsal ilişkilerin bir ürünüdür. Bu toplumsal ilişkiler, üretim sürecinde egemen düşüncenin oyun alanında ne kadar yer edindiğimizle alakalıdır. Ataerkil toplumsal norm ve üretim ilişkileri içerisinde kadınların özel alanla sınırlandırılması ve daha çok ev- aile işleriyle konumlandırılması kadının iş hayatında bazı zorluluklarla karşılaşmasına neden olur. Bu bağlamda, toplumsal hayatın her alanında olduğu gibi üniversitelerde de toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı ilişki biçimleri yeniden üretilmekte ve kadınlar biyolojik-toplumsal değeri üzerinden deneyimlenmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, toplumsal hayattaki konumları sonucunda üniversitelerin cinsiyetlendirilmiş bir kurumsal habitusu olduğunu ve bu habitusun toplumsal cinsiyet ilişkileri bakımından farklı görünümlere sahip olduğunu sergilemektir. Akademik yazın ve istatistikler çerçevesinde görüldüğü üzere, kadın akademisyenler kurumsal habitus içerisinde toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinden ayrı hareket edememekte ve böylece, toplumsal hayattaki çok yönlü rollerinden ötürü, akademik ilerleme hiyerarşisinde erkeklerden geri kalmaktadırlar.
The phenomenon of femininity and masculinity is a product of social relations rather than our biological beings. These social relations are related to how much we are in the field of play of dominant thought in the production process. The limitation of women to the private area and the more positioning in the home-family affairs in the atherical social norms and production relationships causes the woman to face some difficulties in the business life. In this context, as in every field of social life, social gender-based relationships are being re-produced in universities, and women are experienced through their biological and social values. The aim of the study is to show that universities are a gendered corporate habit as a result of their positions in social life and that this habitat has different views in terms of social gender relationships. As seen in the framework of academic summer and statistics, women academics are unable to move apart from social gender roles within the corporate habitus and thus, because of their diverse roles in social life, they are behind men in the academic progress hierarchy.
