Matematiğin insan hayatındaki yerini ve önemini anlamak için matematikçi olmak gerekmez. İnsanoğlu eşya ile tanıştığı bebeklik döneminde bile matematikle muhatap olmaktadır ya da matematiği kullanmaktadır. Henüz kendini ifade edebilecek çağa gelmese de bebek, çevresinde olan biteni algılamaya çalışırken farkına varmasa da matematiği kullanmaya başlamıştır artık. Hemen her toplumda, ilkokul çağındaki çocukların bile, eğitimini izleyen ailesi, öğretmeni ya da ilgili eğitim uzmanları çocuğun matematikle ilgisini ölçmeye çalışırlar. “Matematiğin nasıl” sorusu çocukların karşılaştığı en temel sorudur. Daha sonraki eğitim düzeylerinde yer yer hayattaki başarı için matematiğe ümit bağlanmaya başlar. Sınav denince artık ilk akla gelen matematik olur ve eğer doğru ilişki kurulamadı ise öğrencilerin korkusu yine matematik olur. Peki, insanoğlunu bu kadar kuşatan ve asla ondan ari olamadığı matematik nedir? Matematik var mıdır, yapılır mı? Matematik sadece matematikçilerin uğraştığı bir bilim midir yoksa bilimlerin anası mı? Matematik kolay mıdır zor mudur? Kime kolay, kime zordur? Zor mudur yoksa zorlaştırılmış mıdır? Bu ve benzeri sorular göreceli olduğu için doğal olarak cevapları da kişiden kişiye değişecektir. Bu çalışmada iş, ekonomi ve sosyal bilimlerde matematiğin ne anlama geldiği, bu alanlarda matematiği hangi düzeyde, hangi müfredatla ve nasıl bir yöntemle verilmesi gerektiğinin üzerinde durulacaktır. İktisadi ve sosyal olayların analizinde kullanılan matematik yöntemlerin ve modellemelerin daha anlaşılır olması için doğası soyut olan matematikten somut çıkarsamalar yapmadaki zorlukların, belki de zorlaştırmaların nedenleri üzerinde durulacak ve bu problemin üstesinden gelmenin yolları tartışılacaktır.
It is not necessary to be a mathematician to understand the place and importance of mathematics in human life. Even in infancy, when humans meet things, they are dealing with mathematics or use mathematics. Even though the baby has not reached the age that can express himself yet, the baby has started to use mathematics even though he does not realize when trying to perceive what is happening around him. In almost every society, even elementary school age children, their parents, teachers or education experts who follow their education try to measure the child's interest in mathematics. The question of "how is your math” is the most basic question children face. At later educational levels, hope begins to be attached to mathematics for success in life. The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to the exam is mathematics, and if the correct relationship cannot be established, the fear of the students will be mathematics. So, what is mathematics that encompasses human beings so much and can never be free of it? Is there mathematics, is it done? Is mathematics a science that only mathematicians deal with, or is it the mother of sciences? Is math easy or difficult? Who is it easy, who is it difficult? Is it difficult or difficult? Since these and similar questions are relative, their answers will naturally vary from person to person. In this study, the meaning of mathematics in business, economic and social sciences, the level of mathematics in these areas, which curriculum and method should be given. In order to make the mathematical methods and models used in the analysis of economic and social events more understandable, the reasons of difficulties in making concrete inferences from mathematics, which are abstract in nature, and perhaps the difficulties, will be discussed and ways to overcome this problem will be discussed.
