Abstract:

In recent years, the use of Degree Score Keys (DPA) has increased among the measurement tools used for performance assessment. In the context of this study, the study of the performance and strategies they use in solving mathematical problems of special skilled 7th grade students was evaluated using two different DPAs. Qualitative method is followed because the specific skilled students are trying to study the problem-solving processes and the strategies they use in the process with the help of DPAs. The study group consists of 12 special skilled students. With the help of semi-structured conversations with students, the data was collected and the data obtained was analyzed with the help of two different DPAs. The DPAs used in analysis were developed by the researcher with the summer support of the field. The developed DPAs have been achieved to a comprehensive assessment by addressing each mathematical question asked to students. Thus, an alternative assessment of the problem-solving processes and strategies they use in this process has been carried out by special skilled students.
