Abstract:

The main objective of this study is to identify the perceptions of prospective Turkish and classroom teachers towards writing and the problems they experience on writing. Conducted within the framework of qualitative research approach using a phenomenologic design, this research used homogenous sampling method, which is one of the main types of purposeful sampling method identified with qualitative researches, in order to determine the participants. This study consists of a total of 136 prospective teachers who were studying in their first years at the department of Turkish and classroom teaching at RTE University, Faculty of Education in the academic year of 2013-2014. With the aim of determining the perceptions of prospective teachers towards writing, the Metaphor Identification Form MIF was used and in order to determine the opinions of them, the Semi-Structured Interview Form SSIF was used. When the problems that teacher candidates have about writing have been examined, it has been determined that most of the classroom teacher candidates have problems in planning the writing and connecting the cues. Turkish teacher candidates were found to have problems in writing rules and punctuation marks
