Air flow and heat transfer due to natural convection was investigated numerically in a partially open cavity. The cavity has got different aspect ratios and a heat source on left side wall. Right side of the wall was ventilated by the outside and ventilation window has got different lengths. Two-dimensional energy, continuity and momentum equations were solved by the method of finite difference. Heat transfer and fluid flow in steady-state condition were studied. The numerical results were discussed with plots of streamlines, isotherms, velocity profiles and variation of Nusselt number. The working parameters were; length of ventilation, aspect ratio of cavity and Rayleigh number. It was found that maximum heat transfer was observed in shallow cavity. Also heat transfer increased with the increasing of ventilation length
