İnternetin hayatımıza girmesi ile birlikte sosyal ağların popülerliği de her geçen gün artmaktadır. Sosyal ağlar, kullanıcılarına duygu ve düşüncelerini diledikleri gibi paylaşabilme imkanı sunmasının yanı sıra, etkili iletişim kurmada aracısız ve ücretsiz olma gibi benzersiz özellikler de sunmaktadır. Günümüzde sosyal ağlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkan medya platformları sayesinde ise insanlar, çeşitli motivasyonlarla bu platformlara katılım sağlamaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, turizm akademisyenlerinin sosyal ağlarda bulunma motivasyonlarını incelemektir. Araştırmada veriler, görüşme (mülakat) yöntemi ile toplanmış olup, verilerin analiz edilmesinde ise içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda turizm akademisyenlerinin sosyal ağları, bilgi edinme, gündemi takip etme ve yeni arkadaşlar edinme amacıyla kullandıkları ortaya çıkmıştır. Ayrıca turizm akademisyenlerinin sosyal ağları doğru kullanıldığı takdirde faydalı gördükleri ve bu motivasyonla sosyal ağlarda bulundukları ifade edilmiştir.

With the introduction of the Internet into our lives, the popularity of social networks is increasing day by day. Social networks not only offer their users the opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts as they wish, but also offer unique features such as being free and intermediary in effective communication. Today, thanks to the media platforms that emerged through social networks, people participate in these platforms with various motivations. The aim of the research is to examine the motivations of tourism academics to be in social networks. In the research, the data is collected by interview (interview) method, and content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, the social networks of tourism academics; It is known that they use it for the purpose of obtaining information, following the agenda and making new friends. As a result, it is stated that tourism academics find social networks useful as a result of their correct use and that they are in social networks with this motivation.
