Şehzade Şehinşah, II. Bayezid ile Hüsnüşah Hatun’un oğludur. Literatürde babasına dair yeterince bilgi olduğundan ona değinilmemiştir. Ancak annesine dair görüşler değerlendirilmiştir. Hüsnüşah Hatun’un babası hakkında Karamanoğlu Nasuh Bey ve Abdülcelil isimleri verilir. II. Bayezid oğullarını Anadolu’nun çeşitli vilayetlerine görevlendirmiştir. 1461 yılında dünyaya gelen Şehzade Şehinşah Menteşe, Manisa ve Konya’da sancaklarında görev yapmıştır. Bu süreçte Memluklerle olan ilişkiler, Karamanoğlu Mustafa İsyanı ve Şahkulu İsyanı gibi konular öne çıkmaktadır. Bu konulara şehzadenin durumu açısından değinilmiştir. Şehzade, 1511 yılında öl(dürül)müştür. Şehzadenin ölümü hakkındaki farklı görüşler ele alınmıştır. Şahkulu İsyanı sırasında ölümü, onun Kızılbaş olduğu iddialarını gündeme getirmiştir. Bu iddiaların, birlikte hareket ettiği düşünülen kişiler tarafından dile getirilmesi ve 1510 yılında ortaya çıkması şüpheleri arttırmaktadır. Ancak bu dönemde şehzadeler arasında mücadeleler olduğu unutulmamalıdır.
