Abstract:

Disabled people constitute one of the disadvantaged groups of the society. In addition to being disabled, being a woman may make these individuals disadvantaged in society. Women with disabilities experience life differently than other people with disabilities, men with and without disabilities, and women with non-disabilities. During these experiences, women with disabilities may face many problems in the family, education, health and working life. These problems limit the living space of the disabled woman to the private area. Women with disabilities whose life is limited to private sphere cannot gain a place in society. In this context, the aim of the study is to reveal the problems faced by disabled women in society. The problems of women with disabilities in society have been handled in a theoretical framework and supported by other research results. According to the theoretical framework and research results, it is seen that disabled women face more problems and are excluded from social life than non-disabled women and men with disabilities. Women with disabilities who are excluded from social life, education and working life and who live in the private sphere cannot gain a place in the society. This situation prevents women with disabilities from being productive individuals.
