Introduction and objectives: Metabolic syndrome represents risk factors associated to cardiovascular disease and type 2 Diabetes mellitus. Treatment includes changes in lifestyle, diet, physical activity, and medication. The purpose of the present study was analyze the strategy effectiveness of nutritional intervention allied to physical activity practice in obese women with clinical diagnosis of Metabolic Syndrome and comparing them to a obese women control group. Methods: Longitudinal control case study with duration of 2 months. All participants followed a specific diet, and the case group in addition to diet associated with regular physical activity practice. Anthropometric data, dietary assessment and biochemical tests were collected. Results: Case group had a statistically significant loss of weight and a decrease in their total cholesterol levels compared to the control group. However, control group presented higher values of waist circumference and arm circumference. Conclusion: Both groups had significant improvement in clinical, anthropometric and biochemical parameters. Due to this, it was possible to conclude that dietary reeducation combined with regular physical activity practice is of extreme strategy importance to patients treatment with metabolic syndrome.
