Abstract:

Abstract This article is a cut from the research entitled Happy Child Program: Happiness for Whom? which conducted an analysis of the federal program Criança Feliz. For this text, we defined as objective to discuss the actions and practices of the program provided to families. Based on the methodology of qualitative documentary research, an analysis of normative and guiding documents was carried out in order to understand the assumptions that the program defends. Our discussions were based on the theoretical framework of the critical field of social welfare policy studies, the State, early childhood education, and the feminist perspective of social reproduction, advocated by Arruzza; Bhattacharya; Fraser (2019) and Federici (2019; 2021), which places feminism beyond the category of class and productive work. In this sense, the analyses indicate that the definition of poverty determines to women and children a specific place mediated by compensatory education via parenting programs.
