Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the variations of the mandibular channels and the temporary kret channels (TKK) using conic radiated computer tomography (KIBT). Tools and methods: In our study, we studied the images of 121 patients who were taken KIBT for reasons such as implant planning, ortogenic surgical planning, in the Department of Oral, Dental and Chen Radiology. All KIBT images were evaluated retrospectively by two radiologists. The image analysis software used the cuts created on the mandibular channel variations and the presence of TKK was evaluated. Results: In our study, a variation of the mandibular canal was detected in 50 of 121 patients (41.3%). In 71 (58.7%) patients, the variation was not observed. There was no significant difference between men and women in terms of mandibular channels variations. (p > 0.05) The most common channel type is the dental type observed in 24 patients. In 6 patients, the retromolar type channel was observed, in 3 patients the anterior type channel, in 2 patients the baccal type channel was observed. Three women and two men were diagnosed with TKK in the right mandibula of five patients. Result: In the planning of dental procedures, mandibular channel variations and the identification of TKK are important. KIBT data is an effective viewing method to verify the existence of these variations. Keywords Conic radiated computer tomography, mandibular nerve, anatomical variation
