Günümüz teknolojisi bir kente ait tüm verilerin Kent Bilgi Sistemi (KBS) çerçevesinde depolanmasına ve kullanılmasına olanak sağlamaktadır. Kent bilgi sistemi, kent yaşayanları ile beraber, özellikle kent yöneticilerine sunulan ve yöneticilere şehirlerin kompleks problemlerine karşı doğru ve güvenilir karar verme imkanı sağlayan bilgi sistemleridir. Kent yönetiminde etkin olan yerel idareler ve belediyelerin uğraşlarının %90’ı arazi ve arsa kullanımı, planlamasına ilişkindir. Arsa değerleri kentin ticari yapısı ile ilgili olduğu kadar kentin zemin koşullarını tanımlayan geoteknik koşullarından da etkilenmektedir. Deprem bölgeleri içinde bulunan bulunan kentlerde deprem risk analizleri kent bilgi sisteminin ayrılmaz bir bileşenidir. Geoteknik verilerin derlenmesinden sonra oluşturulacak kent bilgi sistemi afet planlama, arazi kullanımı gibi kentin sorunlarının çözümünde daha yaralı olacaktır.
Today’s technology enables all data of a city to be stored and used within the City Information System (KBS). City information systems are information systems that, together with the residents of the city, are provided especially to the city managers and allow the managers to make the right and reliable decisions against the complex problems of the cities. 90% of the work of local governments and municipalities that are active in the city management is related to land and land use, planning. Land values are affected by geotechnical conditions that define the ground conditions of the city as much as it is related to the city’s commercial structure. Earthquake risk analysis in cities located within earthquake areas is an integral component of the city information system. The city information system that will be created after the gathering of geotechnical data will be more vulnerable in solving the problems of the city, such as catastrophic planning, land use.
