Abstract:

Abstract:

Commonly known as a term of the public literature field "motif" and divan literature manzum works' term "mazmun" are the concepts that draw attention with the common functions of works in different forms. The motivation of the members of the investigative works, the essence of the mazous works, can occasionally lead to the judgment that these two concepts are interdependent. As it is clear, although the motives and the mazmun are different concepts, the motives, especially the divan literature researchers, do not have a clear meaning in the minds of the mazmun degree. In this, the motivation is a concept that creates an examination space of the public literature membership works, and it is also the subject of the subject of the subject of the subject of the subject of the subject of the subject of the subject of the subject. In this article, “Is the motives only for the membership works?“Is the motivation the reward in the literary works of manzum?“Do the motives create the motions, the motions create the motives?” The question and the two concepts will be attempted to reveal the relationships, similarities and differences between each other.

Abstract:

“Motif”, known widely as a term of the folk literature field, and “mazmun” (i.e. poetic theme) being the term of verse works in divan literature, both are prominent concepts due to the common functions they serve in different types of literary works. The fact that motifs constitute the essence of prose tahkiyevî (lit. narrative) works, and mazmun constitutes the essence of poetic works, can sometimes lead one to assume that these two concepts are equivalent. As it is understood, even though motif and mazmun are two distinct concepts, in the minds of scholars of Divan literature in particular, motif does not carry a significant meaning as much as mazmun. Here, motifs had emerged in addition to being a concept constituting an examination field specific to prose works of folk literature, the effect of leveraging tahkiyevî works written within the tradition of Divan literature with verses is influential, as well. This study will try to reveal the relationships, similarities, and differences between these two concepts, through the following questions: “Are motifs in question only for prose works?”, “Is mazmun the equivalent of motif in poetic literary works?”, and, “Does motif form mazmun, or does mazmun form motif?”
