Abstract:

In this study, the aim was to detect changes that may occur in the heart by electrocardiography according to the degree of anemia in theileriosis cattle. This study was carried out on a total of 32 animals in the ages of 1 to 5 of the year, including 8 healthy cows (healthy group) from the same area, which were naturally infected with T. annulata, brought to the Elazığ area and the Veterinary School of the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Fırat. Theileriosis was diagnosed in a total of 24 cows, according to the hematocritic value and the number of erythrosites (by the severity of anemia) in each group, divided into 3 groups, including 8 cows (Group 1 of lightly severe anemia, Group 2 of medium severe anemia, and Group 3 of severe anemia). When the ECG test results were studied in this study, statistical (P≤0.05) increases in the T wave amplitude were found between Group 2 and Group 3 according to the healthy group. In terms of P wave, T wave, PQ interval and QT interval time, statistical reductions (P≤0.05) were determined in other groups, according to the healthy group. In terms of the QRS wave time, statistical reductions (P≤0.05) were recorded in Group 3 according to the healthy group. In terms of the ST interval time, statistical reductions (P≤0.05) were found in Group 3 compared to other groups. As a result, it has been found that the heart is affected by the degree of anemia in the theileriosis cows and that it can lead to some arithmals, including sinus tachycardia, an increase in the amplitude of the T wave in the electrocardiogram (ECG), QRS wave, PQ, ST and QT interval intervals, and the reduction can be seen.
