Abstract:

The research was conducted in a descriptive type to determine the relationship between marital adjustment and sexual quality of life in women with diabetes. The sample selection was not made in the study, and the population of the study consisted of 154 married women with diabetes who did not enter menopause and applied to the internal medicine outpatient clinics of a Training and Research Hospital. The data were collected using the Patient Information Form, Marriage Adjustment Scale, and Sexual Quality of Life Scale-Female. In the evaluation of the data, number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, and Sperman Correlation Analysis were performed. It was determined that 46.8% of the female diabetic patients were in the between 54-71 age, 50% were literate and 94.2% were not working. It was determined that the mean score of the Marriage Adjustment Scale of the female patients with diabetes included in the study was 45.55±08.39, and the mean score of the Sexual Life Quality Scale-Female score was 53.99±10.33. A very weak positive relationship was found between marital adjustment and sexual life of female diabetic patients (r=0.190, p<0.05). It was determined that the quality of sexual life increased as the marital adjustment of the patients increased. Women with diabetes are advised to raise awareness about the impact of the disease on sexuality and the relationship between spouses.
