Abstract The concept of Health has moved from an individual orientation to a more inclusive systemic approach, where the effects caused by biological agents interact with people's lifestyles. Today, not only is the fact that the subject is healthy or not relevant, but great attention is also given to the normal development of individuals within the framework of a given society, capable of providing, or not, the adequate environment for the enjoyment of a long, full and healthy life. During the last century, Cuba has experienced important transformations in its epidemiological profile. The effect of lifestyle on health is reflected in a population currently characterized by its unquestionable aging and the slow increase in the number of inhabitants. According to data published by the National Statistics Office, demographic growth has shown negative signs in the years between 2006 and 2008; At the same time, more than 16% of the population is 60 years of age and over. Based on data from the II Survey of Risk Factors for health and non-communicable diseases and the Household Survey, focused on the segment of inhabitants aged 60 years and over, certain health behaviors followed by these people will be evaluated.
