Tüm alanlarda yükselen bir değer olan tasarım kavramı sürekli yenilik gerektiren inovatif bir süreci içermektedir. Bu süreçte, tasarlanacak ürünün çağın ihtiyaçlarını karşılaması, çözüm odaklı olması ve tasarım açısından tüketici beklentilerini tatmin etmesi önemli noktalardır. Bu nedenle özellikle görsel iletişim, mimarlık ve moda gibi görselliğin ve tüketici algısının ön planda tutulduğu alanlarda, tasarım araştırmaları ve tasarım çözümleme yöntemlerinden yararlanmak büyük önem taşımaktadır. Tasarım kavramının giysi ile özdeşleştiği moda tasarımı alanında da tasarımcılar, tasarım araştırmaları yaparak bilgi birikimlerini tasarım ilke ve yöntemleriyle birleştirerek hazırladıkları koleksiyonlarını tüketicilerin beğenisine sunmaktadır. Yeni özellik ekleme, eksiltme ya da eklenmiş özellikleri farklı yerlere taşıyarak kombinasyon sağlama gibi işlemlerin sonucunda giysiye tasarım özelliği ve değeri kazandırılır. Bu nedenle, giysi tasarımcılarının bir giysinin tasarım değerini artıran ve ona tasarım özelliği kazandıran özellikleri hangi yöntem ve yaklaşımlarla gerçekleştireceğinin bilincinde olmaları, analiz ve sentez yeteneklerini geliştirmeleri ve tasarım çözümleme yöntemlerini tasarım süreci içinde kullanmaları gerekmektedir. Bu düşüncenin çıkış noktasını oluşturduğu araştırmada; özellikle tasarım değeri yüksek ve özgün giysi tasarımlarıyla moda dünyasında önemli yeri olan Balmain markasının 2020 Sonbahar/Kış kadın koleksiyonunu oluşturan üst giysi tasarımlarının, Kleining, Gerhard’ın (1986) ortaya koyduğu nitel deneyleme yöntemiyle çözümlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Koleksiyondaki benzer üst giysi tasarımlarını temsil eden bir tasarım belirlenerek, toplam 11 tasarım çalışma kapsamına alınmış ve çözümlemesi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; koleksiyonu oluşturan giysi tasarımlarında, Kleining, Gerhard’ın ekleme, eksiltme, yerini değiştirme teknikleri ile simetrik ve asimetrik denge, tekrar, uyum, zıtlık, bütünlük, vurgu, doku gibi tasarım ilkelerinin uyumlu kombinasyonlarının oluşturulduğu ve özgün giysi tasarımlarına dönüşümün gerçekleştirildiği görülmüştür.
The design concept, which is an increasing value in all fields, includes an innovative process that requires constant innovation. In this process, it is important that the product to be designed meets the needs of the age, that it is solutions-oriented and that it meets consumer expectations in terms of design. Therefore, especially in areas where visual communication, architecture and fashion and consumer perception are in the forefront, the use of design research and design analysis methods is of great importance. In the field of fashion design where the design concept is identified with clothes, designers also offer their collections to the consumer's pleasure by doing design research, combining their knowledge with the design principles and methods. New features are added, dissolved or added features are transferred to different locations, as a result of processes such as providing combination, the costume design features and value are awarded. Therefore, clothing designers need to be aware of what methods and approaches they will perform the features that increase the design value of a clothing and give it a design feature, to develop their analysis and synthesis abilities and to use the design solution methods in the design process. In the research that forms the starting point of this thought, it is intended to analyze the top clothing designs of the Balmain brand, which is an important place in the fashion world with its high design value and original clothing designs, which forms the 2020 Autumn/Winter female collection, with the quality experimental method presented by Kleining, Gerhard (1986) . A design that represents similar top clothing designs in the collection has been determined, a total of 11 designs have been taken into the work scope and analyzed. The research has found that in the clothing designs that make up the collection, Kleining, Gerhard's adding, exhausting, replacement techniques and symmetrical and asymmetrical balance, replication, conformity, contradiction, integrity, emphasis, fabric, and the design principles are combined and the conversion to the original clothing designs is carried out.
