Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the views of students who prefer the field of science at high school on their career perceptions and planning. The research has used the quality research method and phenomenological design. The data is obtained for the purpose of sample to ensure maximum diversity. To collect research data, 33 students who studied in two high schools in the Araklı district center, Araklı Mehmet Akif Ersoy Anadolu High School Pension Study Halls 2018-2019 educational-learning year in the spring period, the individual interview form was applied. The data was analyzed with the help of content analysis. Students who choose the field of science at high school are at the forefront of the most important factors in determining the nature of their professions they will carry out in their future lives and whether they are suitable for them. The positive and negative effects of families in this process, the interest in the branches in which the professions or careers are associated, the interest in the classes outside the selected field and the professions in which these courses are associated, the interests and abilities of the students in the near environment, in the country or in the world, form the professional career decisions of the scientists. The most important problems students who choose the field of science experience during and after the field selection process is the difficulty of the courses and the continuity of the course study that is necessary for the field to be successfully continued. Because some of the students who provide their career planning are faced with financial problems, these student groups are forced to delay their career planning. The formation of a systematic project team and the environment that can be a role model in the friendly and social environment or successful projects can be carried out in cooperation plays an important role in the success of career planning. The introduction of project work environments in this cooperation to such disadvantaged student groups in high schools will contribute to the achievement of homogeneity among all students in the scientific career across the country.
