Abstract:

The Democratic Party won a major victory in the elections on 14 May 1950 and was in power alone. With these elections in history, the end of the Democratic Party began with a 10-year power that will be pointed out by the military intervention of 27 May.The Democratic Party, which lasted until the elections of 1954, is called the ascension period. With the return of Marshall aid and the foreign debt received, Turkey has become a large investment area and a certain increase in the purchasing power of Turkish citizens has been seen. In the second half of the 1950s, the Democratic Party began to decline. During this period, the party’s Middle East policy was also formed and it was dealt with for the design of an Arab geography in the western leadership. The Democratic Party in this framework founded the Baghdad Pact and sought to become a power in the region. Adnan Menderes's trip to Libya begins in 1957. The expected benefit of this trip is to a new ally in the Middle East by advancing relations with Libya and increasing the influence of the Pact. In this context, the Prime Minister will try to provide the details of his trip to Libya. The leaders Menderes met in Libya, the persons and institutions he visited and the press reflections of this visit will be attempted to be transmitted in the framework of the archive documents obtained from the funds of the Prime Minister's Special Pen Directorate located in the State Archives of the Republic of Turkey. In addition, the work will be supported by the use of various research works. This study is aimed at making an opinion about the Turkish-Libyan relations of the time.
