Abstract:

The rapid transformation of the Palestinian national struggle in the 1960s and 1970s from a rebellionist guerrilla terrorist movement in the 1980s and 1990s with almost all its characteristics (although it does not have a sustainable national space) into a organized state has also contributed to the politization of the Palestinian Christian church in Israel/Palestine. Thro this period, the Israeli policies, including land capture, the destruction of churches and goods, the construction restrictions and the mass migrations of the believers that arise as a result, created a new climate of political intolerance in which churches face-to-face. The 1990s and 2000s have witnessed the beginning and end of the Oslo “peace process” between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), as well as the development of regional policies and policy concerned with the Eastern Jerusalem, where the Arab population is mainly the historic West Bank region of Palestine. The church-government relations have fallen to the lowest level in the past decade. The consequences of the uncertainty and doubts revealed by these experiences continue to blame the mutual relations of Israelis, Palestinian Christians and Muslims living in the Holy Land.
