Öğretmen Adaylarının Bakış Açısından Meslek Bilgisi Derslerinin Gereklilik Düzeyi ve Öğretmenlik Mesleği Yeterlikleri

Bu çalışmada, öğretmenlik mesleği genel yeterlikleri ile öğretmen yetiştirme programları arasındaki ilişki araştırılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri bir devlet üniversitesinin eğitim fakültesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 304 lisans öğrencisinden toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak öğretmen mesleki yeterliklerinden oluşan bir ölçek ve yenilenen öğretmen eğitim programındaki seçmeli ve zorunlu derslerin listesi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları öğrencilerin yeterlik düzeylerinin yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir. Ancak, öğrencilerin yeterlik düzeyleri ile genel not ortalamaları arasındaki korelasyonun düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, okul öncesi öğretmenliği bölümü öğrencilerinin yeterlik puanlarının diğer öğrencilere göre anlamlı derecede yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Son olarak, en gerekli meslek bilgisi dersinin “Öğretmenlik Uygulaması I-II”, en az gerekli görülen meslek bilgisi dersinin ise “Eğitim Felsefesi” olduğu belirtilmiştir.

Abstract:

In this study, the relationship between the general qualifications of the teaching profession and the teaching training programs has been studied. The research data was collected from 304 undergraduate students who are studying at a state university’s educational faculty. As a data collection tool, a scale consisting of teachers' professional qualifications and a list of selective and compulsory courses in the renewed teachers' training program has been used. Research results have shown that students have a high level of competence. However, the correlation between the students’ qualification levels and the general score average has been determined to be low. In addition, the pre-school teaching department found that the qualification scores of students were significantly higher than other students. Finally, the most necessary vocational knowledge course is "Teaching Application I-II" and the least necessary vocational knowledge course is "Education Philosophy".

In this study, the relationship between the general competencies for teaching profession and teacher training programs in Turkey were investigated. The data were collected from 304 undergraduate students studying at a faculty of education in a state university. In order to collect data a scale consisting of the statements in general competencies for teaching profession and a list of elective and mandatory courses in the renewed teacher training program were used. The results revealed that students’ competency levels were high. However, the correlation between the competency levels and the GPA of the students was weak. It was also found that pre-school teaching department students had significantly higher competency scores than the other students’. Lastly, it was found that the most required course was “Teaching Practice I-II” and the least required course was “The Philosophy of Education” from the participants’ point of view.
