Abstract:

The Scale of Violence Experiences developed by King and Russell (2017) is a scale consisting of 36 items, 12 indicators and four factors, which measure the experiences of violence of participants between 5-8 years old, 9-12 years old and 13-16 years old, relating to family hostility, brotherhood hostility, domestic hostility and fellow hostility. In addition to the four-factor structure of the scale, periodic violence experiences that cover childhood, fertility and adolescence periods can also be studied. It is important that the scale reveals both the violent experiences exposed to different persons and the state of exposure according to the age period, as well as the validity and reliability of the Turkish culture is important. The purpose of this study is to adapt the reviewed form to the Turkish and to study its psychometric characteristics. For this purpose, the scale was applied to 460 participants who studied in the universities in Istanbul. As a result of the verifying factor analysis, the four-dimensional structure of the scale has been verified and its internal reliability is high.
