This study was conducted in Çelikhan district of the city of Adıyaman, where a large number of these cooperatives were established. In this study, in order to contribute to the development and dissemination of socio-economic characteristics, business characteristics and tobacco production and marketing cooperatives, a total of 90 producers who are members and non-members of tobacco production and marketing cooperatives living in the same village were determined by using proportional sampling method and face-to-face surveys were conducted. According to the results obtained, producers who are members of the cooperative; make more contracts, more farmers are included in the farmer registration system, know more about the SCT rate levied on roll-your-own tobacco products, "being able to sell products at a high price” ranked first in the reasons for becoming a partner, that the most important function of the cooperative is the purchase of products, that they need training on cooperatives, receive more information on technical or legal matters from the agricultural chamber. Producers who are not members of cooperatives; they do tobacco production because they do not know how to grow other crops, that the state should provide financial assistance to make cooperatives better and more successful. The main reasons for not wanting to become a member of a cooperative are; they do not find the existing cooperatives reliable, that they will not succeed. However, 83.8% stated that they would become members if these problems were solved. Conducting periodic training activities for cooperative managers and members on their rights and obligations and cooperative and business management issues will contribute to the continuity of cooperatives.
