Abstract In Argentina, in the second half of the twentieth century, revolutionary fervor occupied the center of intellectual discourse. In this context, it is possible to detect, in some of the publications of the time, a thematic recurrence linked to aesthetic and artistic procedures. This article aims to analyze the way in which the artistic topic is constructed in the intellectual discourse of the magazine Pasado y Presente, one of the most resonant publications in the history of Argentina. We propose to characterize the intellectual group to then investigate, from a sociosemiotic perspective, those documents that deal with issues related to art, especially literature. The research results show a marked interest of the intellectual group for art in the first issues, an issue made possible by the state of social discourse of the 1960s and 1970s, and the subsequent loss of that thematization, especially in the second moment of appearance of the magazine.
