The aim of this retrospective study is to evaluate the effects of nasoalveoler molding method that is used for the babies with unilateral cleft lip and palate on the cleft segments and back and medial alveolar widths .Within the scope of this study, the nasoalveoler molding treatment that is suggested by Grayson has been applied to 13 patients who have unilateral cleft lip and palate. The registrations have been recorded on babies at the beginning of the treatment and before the lip operation. The average treatment duration is determined as 4 months. Six measurements have been performed to evaluate the cleft segments and alveolar widths on the intraoral models acquired. The paired t-test was used in the comparison of the changes seen at the beginning and end of the treatment. The measurements of the cleft wideness there occurred statistically significant changes and that the cleft segments closed during the treatment. On the beginning and end evaluation of the back and medial alveolar widths indicators revealed no statistically significant changes. It is stated that the cleft wideness is reduced with the nasoalveoler molding, in posterior and middle width measurements of the maxillary arch. It is also stated there are little increases not significant as statistical more than narrowing. Consequently nasoalveolar molding method applied babies with unilateral cleft lip and palate produces positive effect on cleft segments, back and medial alveolar widths
