The purpose of this study is to reveal both the metaphors that are related to guidance counselling and perceptions for boundaries and responsibilities connected to this profession. The participants were guidance counsellors (n=66) from a district of Ankara. Participants were asked to complete sentences as ‘guidance counsellor is like … because …’, ‘the most important responsibility of a guidance counsellor is … because …’ and ‘guidance counsellor shouldn’t barge in … because …’. According to the results participants used 51 valid metaphors for school counsellor concept, 53 definitions for the responsibilities, 40 definitions for boundaries. Data have been discussed inassociation with the categories and evolution of the profession. Considering the metaphors produced in study as a whole, it is seen that the school psychological counsellors’ perceptions among their professional perceptions and their assigned tasks at school. Moreover, other findings revealed that student-centeredness and confidentiality, which are among the most important principles of psychological counseling field, are significantly internalized by school psychological counsellors.
