Abstract:

The aim of this research is to make a comparative evaluation of the way the Crimean War was handled in Ali Cevad’s Concise Ottoman History and the 11th Grade History textbook for Secondary Education. The data were obtained from the history literature through the document analysis method and from the books called Concise Ottoman History and Secondary School 11th Grade History Textbook. With the data obtained, the mentioned books were examined within the framework of the Crimean War and their differences were revealed. The evaluation of the data obtained from the textbooks was made using document analysis, one of the qualitative analysis methods. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the information given in the history literature and information in the textbooks which were examined, did not conflict, but the information and expressions given in the Concise Ottoman History Textbook on the subject were few and superficial. In addition, in the 11th Grade Secondary Education History Textbook, it was observed that the information and expressions related to the subject were emphasized by taking into account the research in the literature, and when compared with the Concise Ottoman History Textbook, it was observed that the subject was included more extensively.
