Bilgi, insan aklının a priori ilkelerine göre düzenlenir.
This study aims to open to the debate of the contradictory existence of the Lighting Essence, reminding that, in addition to all the rationality of the Cantist Enlightenment, it is actually based on a belief. This contradiction will be addressed through the works of the drama and story writer Heinrich von Kleist, who has committed suicide due to existential crises. Kleist, who defined himself as an Illuminator in his youth, is in a mental crisis after he met Kant’s philosophy, and this crisis is called Kleist’s Kant’s crisis in literature. Kant’s information philosophy questiones the possibility of knowledge rather than the knowledge itself; it concerns not the object itself, but only the ways in which man acquires information. Knowledge is organized according to the a priori principles of human mind. Through these a priori principles concerning man’s way of knowledge, we can know the objects not in the way they are themselves, but in the way they are given to us as sensational objects. Kleist, from Kant’s these opinions on knowledge, concludes that the direct and objective reality is not in conjunction with our knowledge, losing his belief in Enlightenment, knowledge and truth. Kleist, just as Kant is sure, is sure that the world’s order is a distorted place, and in his works he notes what can happen to us in a life that is not knowledge, but always interconnected with knowledge, focusing on life itself. But according to Kant, in such an unregular world we can only be faithful to ourselves. The Kleist, like Kant, who always forced the boundaries, also forced the boundaries of this loyalty, to see the paradox of the Lighting Essence, especially with the character of Michael Kohlhaas. Since Kant has not been able to completely get rid of this paradox, it puts faith on the foundation of his philosophy. In this context, this study aims to discuss the problem of the Enlightenment Essence in Kant and Kleist's works, addressing the relationship we establish with the world, through the themes of knowledge, truth, lies, morality and justice.
