Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to study the relationship between the deprivation of the internal limitating membrane (IMM) in the eyes of the idiopathic macular hole (IMD) and the thickness of the macular ganglion cell complex after vitrectomy and retina sensitivity. 18 of the 18 patients who were treated with IRM removal and vitrektomy were examined backward. A Brilliant blue G injection was applied to make the IRM more visible. In the month 3 after Vitrektom, the optical coherent tomography and the thickness of the ganglion cell complex (GHK) and the retinal sensitivity measureed by a microperimeter were detected. Results: All eyes have a macular hole closed after the first surgery. The decrease in retinal sensitivity was associated with the decrease in GHK thickness in all macular layers. In addition, the thickness of GHK in the lower squares was thinner than the upper squares, and the retinal sensitivity was lower than the upper squares in the lower squares. The result is that the thickness of GHK in the 3rd month after vitrectomy with the IRM removal for IMD was correlated with retina sensitivity at 10 degrees, although this correlation was not statistically meaningful. We need more participants and longer follow-up studies to verify our findings.
