Üzerinden beş yüz geçmesine rağmen Çaldıran Savaşı (1514) sonuçları itibarıyla hala tartışılmaktadır. Osmanlı kaynakları bu savaştan kesin bir galibiyet olarak bahsederken Safevi kaynakları bunu bir mağlubiyet olarak görmezler. Taktik icabı geri çekiliş olarak telakki eden Safevi kaynakları, buna uygun çeşitli gerekçeler öne sürerler. Bu makalede modern tarihyazımında oldukça ihmal edilen Safevi kaynaklarından hareketle Safevilerin bu savaşı nasıl algıladıklarına değinilecektir. Her iki tarafın kaynaklarının okunması meselenin daha iyi anlaşılmasını sağlayacaktır.
Though it has passed over five hundred, the results of the Thief War (1514) are still being discussed. While the Ottoman sources say this war is a certain victory, the Safevi sources do not see it as a defeat. The Safevi sources, which reflect tactical response as a withdrawal, suggest various reasonable reasons for this. In this article, we will refer to how the Safevians perceive this war by moving from the Safevi sources that are quite neglected in modern history. Reading the sources of both sides will make the issue better understood.
Although five centuries passed since the Ottoman’s Chāldirān victory (1514), the consequences of this battle are still a disputed issue. While Ottoman chronicles present the result of this battle as a decisive victory, Safavid sources refrain from announcing it as a defeat. Safavid sources interpret it as a tactical withdrawal on their part, and attempt to justify their claims though various explanations. Based on Safavid chronicles, which have been neglected by modern historiography, this article aims to discuss the perception and interpretation of the Battle of Chāldirān by the contemporary Safavid chronics. The appraisal of both Ottoman and Safavid sources will enable a better understanding of the issue.
