Heidegger’in Batı metafiziğine yönelik eleştirilerinin temelinde, metafizikte görünüş ve gerçeklik arasında bir ayrıma gidilmesi bulunur. Heidegger’e göre sanat ve edebiyatta başvurulan metafor kavramı da söz konusu metafizik gelenek ışığında anlamlıdır. Ne var ki şayet metafiziğin temel kabulleri hatalıysa metaforun sanattaki gösteren olarak kullanımı da anlamını yitirmekte, metafor işlevsizleşmekedir. Bu çerçevede sorunun ele alınması için öncelikle metafor kavramının metafizik ile ilişkisinin açığa çıkarılmasına ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Sonrasında da Heidegger’in metafor kavramına mı yoksa onun metafizik içerimlerine mi itiraz ettiğinin aydınlatılması gereklidir. Bu kitap değerlendirmesinde Zeynep Kot Tan’ın Heidegger Sarkacı-Metafor Kavramının Arkeolojisi isimli çalışma ışığında yapılan budur.
The basis of Heidegger's criticisms of Western metaphysics is the distinction between appearance and reality in metaphysics. According to Heidegger, the concept of metaphor used in art and literature is also meaningful in the light of the metaphysical tradition. However, if the basic assumptions of metaphysics are wrong, the use of metaphor as a signifier in art loses its meaning, and metaphor becomes dysfunctional. In this context, in order to address the problem, first of all, it is necessary to reveal the relationship between the concept of metaphor and metaphysics. Afterwards, it is necessary to clarify whether Heidegger is objecting to the concept of metaphor or its metaphysical implications. This is what is done in this book review in the light of Zeynep Kot Tan's study titled Heidegger Sarkacı-Metafor Kavramının Arkeolojisi.
