Özet:

The driving force of the Turkish economy is the biggest 500 and the second biggest industrial firms. These firms fulfil great share of the domestic demand as well as important share of export. Moreover, the employment share of these firms is considerable in the industrial employment. Therefore, the impact of economic crisis on these firms creates imbalances on the whole economy. As a result, identifying and analysing the impact of crisis on these firms are critical to implement policies against economic crisis. The main aim of this study is to analyse the impact of 2001 and 2008 crisis on these firms and their coping strategies against the crises. For this purpose, employment and value-added data obtained from Istanbul Chamber of Industry and Turkish Statistical Institute is used to investigate the impact of different crisis on the biggest firms. The analysis shows that the crises of 2001 and 2008 have had different impacts on the large-scaled firms of Turkish industrial sector
