İnsan, yapısı itibariyle psikolojik ve fizyolojik derinliğe sahip bir varlıktır. Bu özelliğinden dolayı duygu ve düşünce dünyası zengin olan insan sanatsal faaliyetlerin ve temel disiplinlerin merkezindedir. İnsanın duygu ve düşüncelerini, dilin bütün imkânlarından yararlanarak estetik ve etkili biçimde anlatma sanatı olan edebiyat ve bilhassa roman insanla ve insanın içinde bulunduğu sosyal dünyayla ilgilenir. Öteki olgusu ise, bireyin “ben”lik/kimlik yapılanmasıyla ilgili psikolojik bir durumdur. Çünkü her benlik, etkilendiği bir başka benliğe göre kendi kimliğini yapılandırır. Toplumların ise tarihi süreçte oluşturdukları milli kimliklerini, “öteki” olarak görülen kimlikler şekillendirir. Mesela, Türk’e göre Meksikalı bir diğeri/başkasıyken Yunan “öteki”dir. Ulus kimliğin inşâsında oluşturulan “biz” bilinci, ötekinin varlığı ile kuvvet bulur. Bu kuvvetin önüne geçilmezlik, sosyolojik ve tarihsel platformda ötekinin mağduriyetini barındırır. Bu mağduriyetler sistematik asimile faaliyetleri, kültürel dez-entegrasyon ve sosyal dışlamalar ile derinleşir. Meydana gelen trajik durumlar ise romanın özündeki çatışma unsurunu barındırdığından tematik izleklerle romanlara konu olur. “Öteki” imajına odaklanarak ele alınan romanlardan Sevinç Çokum’un Hilal Görününce’sinde ve Cengiz Dağcı’nın Benim Gibi Biri’sinde Kırım Türklerinin Alev Alatlı’nın Yaseminler Tüter mi, Hâlâ?’sında Kıbrıs Türklerinin Cengiz Aytmatov’un Beyaz Gemi’sinde Kırgız Türklerinin kendi öz yurtlarında asimile faaliyetleri ve ötekilikleri dikkati çeker. Fakir Baykurt’un Yüksek Fırınları’nda ise ekonomik menşeli olup Almanya’ya göç eden Türklerin kültürel dez-entegrasyonuna vurgu yapılır. Beş romanda da ortak olan “Dış Türkler”in öteki görülme trajedisidir. Nitekim roman kahramanlarından ikisi ötekileştirmenin şiddeti ile öldürülürken biri sürgüne gönderilir biri intihar eder diğeri ise asimile olur. İncelenen bu romanlar, 19. Ve 20. yüzyılda Türk dünyasının sosyolo-politik panoramasını da gözler önüne serer.
Man is a being with a psychological and physiological depth in its structure. Because of this characteristic, the world of emotions and thoughts is rich; the human being is at the center of artistic activities and basic disciplines. Literature and novel, which is the art of describing human feelings and thoughts in a aesthetic and effective way, taking advantage of all the possibilities of the language, is concerned with man and the social world in which man is within. The other phenomenon is a psychological situation related to the individual’s “I” identity/creation. For each self structures its own identity according to the other self that it is affected. The national identities that the societies form in the historical process, the identities that they see as "the other" are formed. For example, according to the Turkish, the Mexican is the other, while the Greek is the “other”. The "we" consciousness created in the construction of national identity finds strength with the existence of the other. The unprecedentedness of this force encompasses the victimity of the other on the social and historical platform. These sacrifices are deepened by systematic assimilation activities, cultural de-integration and social exclusions. The tragic circumstances that come into place are the subject of the novel with thematic tracks, since the novel contains the element of conflict in its essence. From the novels addressed by focusing on the image of "Other" in the Hilal appearance of Happy Çokum and one like me of Cengiz Moğcı in the Crimean Turks; Is the Yaseminler of Alev Alatlı Tüter, Still?At the White Ship of Cengiz Aytmatov, the Kyrgyz Turks take into account their own homeland asymmetic activities and distinctions. In the High Outs of the poor Baykurt, the emphasis is on the cultural de-integration of the Turkish migrants who are of economic origin and immigrate to Germany. It is the second tragedy of the "Foreign Turks" in five novels. In fact, two of the heroes of the novel are killed by the violence of self-determination; one is expelled; one commits suicide; the other is assimilated. This novel is 19th. And in the 20th century, the social-political panorama of the Turkish world is also visible.
